Uncle Phil and dad in front of his store, Det. MI 1950

The store always had a crap game going on in the back. At 5 yrs-old I was a lookout for the cops driving by.  The Mafia tried to take over the crap game. They were sore losers. Every time one of them would roll craps, they would yell and throw the dice through the front door and out into the street.

One time the cops did raid the place. They knocked on the front door, my dad opened it and from around the side of the building about a dozen cops rushed in right past him. They forgot to get him and he walked out the door. My dad then went on the roof and watched the cops arrested everyone inside and take them out to a police wagon.
